Expertise & Honesty

This site is designed for women over 40 who are interested in becoming healthier versions of themselves by staying active. I use my expertise in fitness to help manage stress. Weight lifting, yoga, running, cycling, and eating well all contribute to a healthy lifestyle. This is a community for women to be themselves, come together to encourage one another, and provide helpful advice.

We are moms, wives, caregivers, and work 40+ hours a week. How do we keep it together? Our community! We dedicate ourselves to others and realize self care is important. We cannot pour from empty cups.

Ways to Manage Stress

Daily life stressors can add up quickly. Taking a minute to deep breathe or box breathe (four second inhale and four second exhale) can make a challenging time, feel a bit easier to handle. It doesn’t happen the first time, like anything, this takes practice. I use a sensory strip on my water bottle when feeling stressed out. This is a great company and was featured on Shark Tank https://calmstrips.com/collections?srsltid=AfmBOopbR-AxtQSLUBXHRnxPWiZ0t0gmx7zkcGSauEk4nHPQCRRYIZjr. I can simply run my thumb or a finger on it and it brings me back to the present moment. It’s almost impossible to make good decisions when our emotions are out of alignment. When emotions are high, our brains go into flight, fight, or freeze mode. Using a mindfulness cue can bring us back to balance. A simple daily yoga routine, no more than 15 minutes, helps keep me grounded.

I aim to go for a one mile walk after work to decompress from the day. I sit at a computer all day, so when I get home, I like to walk to get a break from seeing a screen all day. The dog seems to enjoy the walks more than my family! It does get cold here in the Northeast during the winter months, so the family isn’t pleased when they feel obligated to take a walk with me. We are not outdoorsy people in the winter. During the warmer months, we do spend plenty of time outside!
